Women’s Philanthropy

Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Palm Springs and Desert Area is a voluntary association of women who are committed to the Jewish values of Tzedakah (justice) and Tikun Olam (repairing the world).  Comprised of both full time residents and “snowbirds” we provide a link between the Jewish women of the Coachella Valley and the Jewish people around the world.

 

Founded in 1975, Women’s Philanthropy (formerly called Women’s Division), provides educational programs to the local community and one-on-one volunteer opportunities that touch the lives of both the young and elderly.  Our annual Lion of Judah and other campaign events allow us to take the leading role in raising funds for the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign. All women are invited to join us in supporting the Annual Campaign with their own individual donation to Women's Philanthropy.

 

 

Women’s Philanthropy/Anti-defamation League/Israel Consulate Meeting - June 17, 2010

Yael Bar-Tur, Representative of the Consulate General of Israel, IDF Reservist, and soon to be Harvard graduate student, spoke to a group of Federation and ADL supporters at the home of Women's Philanthropy Board Member Rennie Wrubel and her husband Stan. Yael gave an engaging talk and power point presentation about her IDF Reserve experiences in Haiti peppered with wonderful stories of Israeli and Haitian heroes. After her talk, the discussion moved to the La Quinta High School "Beat the Jew" game with comments by Elana Wien and Maita Schuster for ADL and our CEO, Bruce Landgarten. Carolyn Ben-Natan, Director of Public Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel, answered questions about the "flotilla".
