Earlier this year members of the annual Tamarisk Men’s Golf Event, chaired by Stan Hack, challenged the Federation to expand the work of its Special Tzedakah Fund to move beyond providing emergency financial assistance, to changing lives. “We can do more than provide funds, we can help provide work and in doing that truly change lives,” noted Hack.
Working with the Employment Development
Department of the State of California (EDD)
with the financial backing of the
Tamarisk Men’s Event, the Federation has
set up a partnership with the State for
the purpose of providing employment
related help and information to any
member of the Jewish community needing
it. “The State provides a wide array of
services, from resume writing help to
job listings and training. Our job is
making sure that everyone who needs the
information gets it and has access to
the full scope of the State’s aid,”
added Hack.
After bringing representatives from all
of our agencies and synagogues together
for a special seminar in August at the
EDD offices in Indio, Federation will be
providing computers at key sites
throughout our Jewish community. If you
are looking for work, please contact
Alan Klugman, Federation Executive Vice
President at 324-4737.
